Create and Protect Your Value
Whether it's personal or professional relationships, knowing your value and insuring you're being appreciated for it is on you.
How much are you worth?
How much should you get paid at your job?
How much time do you deserve from your friends?
These questions have a simple answer: whatever you set as your price.
When we talk about value, we too often get focused on the almighty dollar. Sure, you may be at a job where you’re doing more work and deserve more pay. Yet your value is set by several parameters, including your experience, skillset, and even more arbitrary limits. Yet your value is fully within your control.
The same can be said in your personal life. If you have “friends” who can’t find the time to see you, your value to them is low. Move on and spend it with those that value you and vice versa.
We all control our own value. Time is precious, so don’t waste it on employers, colleagues, or friends who don’t value you or it.
